“The Ad (N Records)
The future of electro-pop?
The advance single from Novi’s new EP, “Now I’m There,” is one of the catchiest electro-pop tracks of the year. The singer, born Carolyne Neuman, is a relatively new artist, but her sensual delivery and love of infectious hooks are quite impressive. Her playful purr sounds like rich, creamy coffee and her clever lyrics are at once profane and profound. The single is pure pop, but should be a hit on dancefloors at clubs worldwide with its unabashed tale of love. In the delightful three-minute ride, the narrator has fallen for a picture of a hot boy that she saw fleetingly in an ad. The soulful delivery recalls the best of Memphis and Philly soul, with insistent (but never annoying) beats, making the pop-electro fusion as appealing to classic ‘60s music fanatics as it is to headphone-wearing beat-freaks. A darling of the Pop Matters set, Novi’s debut EP appeared last autumn, with a sizeable hit from the debut single, “Blackbirds.” But The Ad takes flight where the birds dared not travel, winging a captivating little song into the stratosphere of Dusty Springfield-meets-Peaches for a grinding make-out session. Definitely an artist worth watching.” See article here
SPEAK Into My GOODEYE
“Oregon’s own burgeoning Electro-Pop darling, Carolyn Neuman, is a seductive songstress on the rise that operates above the faux, yet remarkably accurate, Sluwave medium that envelopes the likes of Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, and Ks$ha. Known best by her stage monicker, NOVI, this artist offers a fierce first single, “The Ad,” which speaks powerfully and intelligently about the subject of sexual attraction to a male magazine model, rather than following in the footsteps of her predecessors and spraying fire and/or whipped cream from fire arms attached to her breasts. NOVI utilizes her sex appeal to the fullest, as its experienced in each melodic verse and candy-coated refrain. Stream the single below and stay tuned for NOVI’ sophomore studio release which is slated to drop in 2013.” See article here
NOVI ROCKS in UK!

LIP MAG LOVE
A little while ago, I got an email that introduced me to the wonderful, sassy pop music stylings of NOVI. Her lead single “BLACKBIRDS” is one of the catchiest singles I’ve heard in a long time. After listening for a while, I happily found myself somewhere between the sassy melodic pop reminiscent of Natalie Imbruglia’s “Torn” and the soothing electronica of Imogen Heap. NOVI is making some of the most interesting music in my world, so I’d like to introduce her to yours. Read on for an interview indicative of just how unique and creative NOVI is!

KICK KICK SNARE
“NOVI created a playful mix of small town charm and sleek LA sounds with ‘Blackbirds’ and now she is back with an equally playful and carefree video. The video has NOVI exploring, dancing and climbing her way through both her Oregon countryside roots and the city she now calls home. NOVI‘s latest will definitely be a part of JR’s Underground‘s fresh indie-pop video take over.”
“Novi has been able to harness that sweet spot between electro-pop, folk rock and soul”

WEIRD MUSIC INTERVIEW
“Like her namesake, Novi is a new artist that is on a fast-track to stardom. Her first EP, Now I’m Here , set to be released for Fall of 2011 , is sure to spark an immediate following from listeners throughout the music spectrum.
She comes to the scene with an original, distinct sound that is eclectic enough to hit the chords of any music lover in the galaxy. The smooth, electro-pop sounds that emanate from the speakers are a compulsive rise and fall of beats on every track that capture listeners, hook, line, and sinker.” Click here to read more
“NOVI, aka Carolyne Neuman in real life, is an up-and-coming electro-pop artist originally from small town Oregon, but now based in the big city (Los Angeles). NOVI previously had a tune (“All the Way”) on the hit show One Tree Hill, which brought her some early visibility and now she is about to release her debut EP, Now I’m Here, this fall. “Blackbirds” is the lead-off single, which was mixed by Brian Malouf (Michael Jackson, Madonna, Prince), who says, “When I first heard Novi’s music I was struck by the strong originality and the defining musicality. They are great and very original sounding songs and her voice soars! I love listening back to these tracks now—they really hold up.” Click here to visit
